Commentary Three different scenes in the same illustration:
The first one, in the background: don Quixote is thrown away by a windmill sail after attacking it.
Notice the representation of the enchanter Frestón.
The second one, in the middle ground: after "defeating" two Benedictine monks, don Quixote encounters a carriage with some Basque ladies.
The third one, in the foreground: Sancho tries to steal the robes of the monks defeated by don Quixote; one of them is running away.
Drawing, shading and engraving are excellent; detailed figures and setting; good gestures and expressions; remarkable style.
Notes 1 - Based on Bouttats' illustration (Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73).
