Commentary | Three different scenes in the same illustration:
The first one, in the background: don Quixote is thrown away by a windmill sail after attacking it. Notice the representation of the enchanter Frestón. The second one, in the middle ground: after "defeating" two Benedictine monks, don Quixote encounters a carriage with some Basque ladies. The third one, in the foreground: Sancho tries to steal the robes of the monks defeated by don Quixote; one of them is running away. Drawing, shading and engraving are excellent; detailed figures and setting; good gestures and expressions; remarkable style. |
