Commentary In the foreground, Sancho, mounted on Rocinante and holding a broom bunch, leaves for El Toboso.
In the background, don Quixote remains in Sierra Morena performing his love penance (doing some somersaults half naked).
Don Quixote's arms hung on a tree.
Well-known scene, but with a remarkable personal drawing style.
Notice Cruikshank's caricature style with short and quick etching lines.
Notes 1 - Compare with another illus. by the same illustrator about the same episode for London: Knight & Lacey, 1824.
