Commentary Allegorical frontispiece.
Cervantes, as Hercules Musagetes (followed by the nine Muses), receives from a satyr the arms (Comedy mask) to fight the monsters (Chivalric books) that have invaded Mount Parnassus.
Figures of great and classical beauty.
Excellent drawing and engraving (Muses' faces, tunics, Hercule's musculature...).
Notes 1 - Same plate first engraved for London: Tonson, 1749, now partially-erased (as used in 1766 too).
2 - Plate 1.
