Commentary | In the foreground, don Quixote is ready to fight with a lion, but the animal remains into the cage; the lionkeeper is almost between the lion and don Quixote (incoherent).
In the background, Sancho and the carter or don Diego de Miranda running away. Not many differences with respect to the basic composition designed by Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657). The main figures are well-drawn and engraved. |
