Commentary | Well-known scene; in the center, don Quixote draws his sword against the theater; from the left, Maese Pedro appears gesticulating to stop don Quixote; on the right, Sancho laughs (he looks like a buffoon); also several witnesses in the right background. Maese Pedro's ape in the upper part.
The three main characters, in the foreground, have been well-marked by burin engraving; the figures in the background, more blurred, are created by stipple. |
