Commentary | Don Quixote places the barber basin on his head as a helmet (Mambrino's helmet), while Sancho observes him.
Acceptable lithograph, although the drawing has got some disproportions. |
Notes | Copy after Francesco Novelli's plate VI for Venice: Alvisopoli, 1818 (and 1819); Berselli has not copied either the barber's figure fleeing away or his mule fallen.
Novelli copied the figures partially after Coypel (Paris: Surugue, 1724), but Coypel's landscape was substituted for another with an inn. |
