Commentary After asking Sancho to Maese Pedro's ape what is his wife doing, the monkey jumps onto Maese Pedro's shoulder to "tell" him the answer; don Quixote and others observe them.
Don Quixote's figure is remarkable, sat and leaned on his sword looking at the ape with attention; Maese Pedro with a patch on his left eye, accurate to Cervantes' text.
Interest in detail and accurate setting (clothes, architecture...).
Good engraving.
Notes 1 - Same plate first engraved for Paris: Baudry, 1835 (after Rivelle's illustration for Madrid: Imprenta Real, 1819).
2 - Unsigned.
