Commentary | Well-known scene and with the same basic composition since Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657). In the foreground, Sancho's blanketing, while, in the background, don Quixote remains behind the inn wall.
Some of the faces and expressions of the men blanketing Sancho are quite remarkable; they are absolute caricatures (see one of them looking directly to the viewer and laughing). |
