Commentary In Sierra Morena, don Quixote makes some somersaults (love penance) before Sancho leaves for El Toboso mounted on Rocinante; the squire holds a broom bunch (accurate to Cervantes' text).
Well-known scene and composition since Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657).
Drawing and engraving are quite poor.
Notes 1 – Same plate also used in Paris: Chez Barrois Aîné, 1777, and Paris: Chez la Veuve Duchesne, Libraire, 1777.
2 - Copy after Crepy's plate with Bonnard's design for Paris: Compagnie des Libraires, 1732.
