Commentary Don Quixote and Sancho arrive at Sierra Morena; Doré has placed both characters on the top of a hill from where it can be seen a vast mountain landscape.
The scene, in keeping with Romanticism taste, is sublime (small size human figures before the immeasurable nature).
Drawing and engraving are excellent.
Notes The illustration, well-placed f.p. 158 in chapter 22:1 according to the "Table des grandes compositions", belongs to chapter 23:1.
