Commentary Reference to the dialogue between the priest and the innkeeper about chivalry novels; don Cirongilio of Thrace flings himself upon a fiery serpent to squeeze its throat and the serpent sinks into a river.
This kind of imaginative images are very in keeping with Romanticism and Doré's liking.
