Commentary | The innkeeper, Juan Palomeque, begins to hit don Quixote when he discovers the knight attacking some wineskins; accurate to Cervantes' text, don Quixote appears asleep, in shirt, with a blanket wrapped around his arm and brandishing his sword.
Also in the scene, the priest and Cardenio, who will stop the innkeeper, and the barber, ready to wake up don Quixote with a bucket of cold water. In the background, Dorotea, leaving the room after seeing don Quixote half-naked. Good drawing and engraving. |
