Commentary | When Sancho is getting ready to cure don Quixote's wounded ear with lint and oinment from his alforjas, don Quixote discovers his broken helmet and decides to imitate the Marquis of Mantua until he avenges this offence.
Don Quixote's expression has not been resolved with accuracy; in Cervantes' text, he gets completely mad; in the illustration, he appears like a calm orator. Original choice. Excellent drawing and engraving; detailed figures. |
Notes | 1 - Notice that don Quixote's figure is a transposition of the well-known image of Hamlet holding Yorick's skull. |
