Commentary Well-known scene since Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657), whose basic composition was copied in later editions with little changes.
Don Quixote gets ready to fight with the lion, which remains into its cage; on the right, the lionkeeper; in the left background, Sancho, don Diego and the carter running away.
Illustration with little novelty.
Don Quixote's figure, well-drawn and engraved, is remarkable.
Notes 1 - Same plate first engraved for London: Newman, 1839.
