Commentary | Despite caption, this illustrations refers to Don Quixote and Sancho on the road from Barcelona to home.
Don Quixote, mounted on Rocinante, is not wearing his armor any longer; Sancho's donkey carries his armor and arms. Cruikshank's personal caricature style is very remarkable; notice don Quixote's figure and sad expression. |
