Commentary | The Basque ladies begging don Quixote not to hurt the Basque, lying on the ground defeated by him; his mule appears upside down.
The group of the Basque lady embracing don Quixote, the knight and the defeated Basque is worth noting. Drawing and engraving are excellent; notice the well-drawn volume of the dress, the elegant use of long wavy lines (in keeping with Art Nouveau style) and those two ladies embracing each other. |
