Commentary Juan de la Cuesta's emblem (taken from Pedro de Madrigal) as appeared in 1605 and 1615 princeps editions.
The emblem presents a lion asleep and a hawk surrounded by the quotation "Post tenebras spero lucem" (After darkness I hope for light); this Latin dictum appears in Job Book: XVII, 12 and don Quixote uses it in chapter 68, part II.
Notes 1 - Same in 1615.
