Commentary | Fourth illustration in this edition about El Curioso Impertinente.
Carnedio reads to Anselmo and Camila a sonnet for Cloris, a pretended lover. Balaca has tried to recreate historical details (clothes, furniture, tapestries...) in a very accurate way, in keeping with 19th century taste for History Painting. The color presents some deficiencies. |
Notes | It has been used a variety of chromolithography known as oleography to imitate an oil painting. |
