Commentary | Don Quixote at his library reading the Amadis de Gaula; different chivalry books (El Caballero de la Cruz, Don Belianis, Palmerin by Silva, Historia del famoso Caballero Tirante el blanco, Florismarte de Hircania) and arms all around the room.
This is one of the most worth-noting images of Alonso Quijano becoming don Quixote; notice the intensity of his expression and look. Drawing and engraving are masterly; excellent use of etching; very remarkable setting too (the armchair, books, lance...). |
Notes | 1 - Plate dated in 1843; the year is divided by a corkscrew. |
