Commentary | Attacking a windmill, don Quixote is hit and lifted by the windmill sail, his lance broken and Rocinante thrown onto the ground upside down.
From the background, Sancho observes the scene astonished mounted on his donkey. Drawing and etching are masterly; the movement and violence of the action has been perfectly-resolved; the figures of don Quixote and Rocinante are masterly, notice their well-resolved foreshortenings and don Quixote's expression; also Sancho is very remarkable. |
