Commentary | An errant knight attacks two enormous and impassive giants to release a princess.
The illustration refers to the dialogue between don Quixote and the canon of Toledo about chivalric books, but it does not illustrate any specific moment. Superb illustration highly influenced by Symbolist Painting (notice the starry background) and by the Art Nouveau style (notice the peacock tail of one of the giants). Very remarkable illustration and drawing style. |
Notes | 1 - The illustrations of this edition do not always appear in the right place, so this illustration could refer to other episodes, such as "Don Quixote imagines himself attacking the giant Pandafilando" (episode of wineskins; 35:2). |
