Commentary Three different scenes in the same plate (archaic):
In the background, the first one: don Quixote attacks the windmills while Sancho tries to stop him.
In the middle ground, the second one: Sancho is beaten by the Benedictine monks' servants.
In the foreground, don Quixote fights with the Basque, while a Basque lady observes them from her carriage.
The Basque holding a stool is not accurate to Cervantes' text; it should be a cushion.
Clumsy drawing, figures without movement and wrong perspective (windmills). 
Notes 1 - Photomechanical copy of the illustration appeared in Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73 (same plate first engraved for Brussels: Mommarte, 1662, which copied Savery's design for Dordrecht: Savery, 1657).
