Commentary | The innkeeper seizing don Quixote to stop him attacking the wineskins.
Accurate to Cervantes' text, don Quixote appears asleep, holding his sword and his arm wrapped with a blanket. Sancho, astonished, the priest, barber, Dorotea and other observe the scene. Well-known scene, but Cruikshank's personal drawing style is very remarkable; notice the expressions of the innkeeper and Sancho; also don Quixote's gesture and figure. |
