Commentary Isolated representation of the innkeeper who knighted don Quixote holding a book and a sword; very remarkable figure.
Good drawing and engraving.
Vanderbank included this figure in his representation of the whole scene for London: Tonson, 1738; maybe, Vanderbank used an original sketch by Hogarth or it was Hogarth who made his design after Vanderbank's illustration.
Notes 1 - Plate 2. Dated on March, 1798.
2 - The page refers to John Ireland's work Hogarth Illustrated (vol. 3, 1798); Cushing's copy from a set of proofs from that edition.
