Commentary | Don Quixote attacks one of the soldiers after having defeated another one; meanwhile, Sancho releases the galley slaves.
Well-represented actions (the first soldier falling, don Quixote attacking the second one, Sancho releasing the slaves). Drawing and engraving are excellent, with remarkable skill. John Vanderbank represented the previous dialogue in keeping with Carteret and Olfield's taste (London: Tonson, 1738). |
Notes | 1 - Plate VI.
2 - Facsimile reproduction of engraving by Hogarth (possibly after The Works of William Hogarth..., London: Baldwin, Craddock & Joy). 3 - This is not the copy re-engraved by Mills for Hogarth Illustrated, London: J. & J. Boydell, 1791-98. |
