Commentary Two different scenes in the same plate (archaic).
The first one, in the foreground: the members of the braying mayors squadron attack don Quixote and Sancho; the squire is falling from his donkey and don Quixote surrounded by the whole group.
The second one, in the background: don Quixote and Sancho running away.
Good group illustration; movement and mess well-represented.
Notes 1 - The plate is not signed by any illustrator.
2 - This illustration has been included following the program created by Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657) and Bouttats (Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73).
