Commentary | In the foreground, don Quixote, Sancho, the Duchess and the Duke observing Merlín's cart; notice Sancho, almost as a child.
Accurate to Cervantes' text, a cart of triumph with penitents in white robes holding lighted wax tapers; on it, Merlin and Dulcinea. Well-resolved composition; good engraving. Interesting classical image of don Quixote. |
