Commentary | Don Quixote is trying to descend into Montesinos' cave when a flock of birds surprises him.
Sancho and the bachelor's cousin hold the rope to which don Quixote is tied. Very poor drawing and rough engraving; deficient inking/printing; worn block. |
Notes | 1 – Same wooden block first used for Madrid: Manuel Martín, 1765 (copied after Madrid: Juan de San Martín, 1741).
2 – Copied after Diego de Obregón’s illustration for Madrid: A. García de la Iglesia, 1674 (as copied for Madrid: Antonio Sanz, 1735). |
