Commentary | Sancho sat upset at an empty table while Pedro Recio orders one servant to take away the dishes.
Scene resolved with more austerity than in French illustrations. Conventional composition. Austere background architecture; there is one allegory of Justice, reference to Sancho's good government. Drawing, engraving and coloring are quite good as a whole, but with notable deficiencies in some details. Good use of aquatint for shading. |
Notes | 1 - Copy after Francis Hayman's illustration for London: A. Millar, 1755.
2 - One character behind Sancho has been eliminated. |
