Commentary | Copy after the portrait designed by José del Castillo and engraved by Manuel Salvador Carmona for Madrid: Ibarra, 1780 based on a painting attributed to Alonso del Arco (donated by the Count of Aguilar to the Spanish Royal Academy; maybe a copy of some painting done during Cervantes' life); now turned and without symbolic elements.
Very remarkable engraving. |
Notes | 1 - Same plate engraved for Paris: Bossange y Masson, 1814 edition. |
