Commentary | In the foreground, don Quixote doing some somersaults before Sancho leaves for El Toboso.
Well-known comical scene since Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657). Don Quixote's figure, extremely elongated, is ridiculous but remarkable. Drawing and engraving are quite good; notice shading in don Quixote's shirt. |
