Commentary Frontispiece based on don Quixote's Part II iconography (17:2).
Don Quixote, as Knight of the Lions (one lion appears beside him), holds a sword and a sun faced shield.
Behind him, over a semicircle wall, Dulcinea, enchanted as an old peasant woman, and Sancho, as governor.
Between them, a medallion with Merlin's portrait.
Acceptable drawing and engraving.
Notes 1 - Copied after Savery's frontispiece for Dordrecht: Savery, 1657.
2 - The same plate will be used for Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73 and later editions.
