Commentary Reference to captive's tale; Ruy Pérez de Viedma and his brothers are called by their father, who has decided to divide his properties among them.
Ruy Pérez, the eldest brother, appears in the foreground, but with his back turned on the viewer; the second brother, almost hidden behind Ruy; and the third brother, the youngest, in the center.
