Commentary | Well-known scene since Savery (Savery: Dordrecht, 1657); when don Quixote tries to descend into Montesinos' cave cutting away some brambles with his sword, a multitude of crows and choughs (they look more like owls in Johannot's vignette) flows out of the cave and knocks don Quixote down.
Also in the scene Sancho and the bachelor's cousin. |
Notes | 1 - Poor process reproduction of illus. published in Madrid: Gaspar y Roig, 1847 (and later reprints) after Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37. |
