Commentary Large plate, which allows figures of great size, but drawing and engraving are not very good.
At a stable, Sancho, decides to abandon Barataria Island, meets with his donkey; Sancho in the center observed by groups of figures on the left and right (theatrical); on the right, the steward, the secretary and Pedro Recio.
Tender image of Sancho with his donkey, in keeping with 18th and 19th centuries liking.
Explanation in French: "Sancho se trouvant accompagné de son Medecin et son Maistre dautel Pedro Rezio et tous ceux de san maison Rejouy de Revoir son Grison lEmbrasse la larme a loeil et luy fait son Compliment en luy dis ant venez mon cheret fid el amy, mon Compagnon et le Soulagement de mes travaux et misaires quand nous marchions tous deux ensemble en bonne intelligence, Je ne pensois a autre chose que davoir Soint de Vous, et de nostre harnois, son grison atant d honesteté ne pût que hanir et ouvrir les aureilles bien grande".
Explanation in Spanish: "Sancho con el médico y mayordomo Pedro rezío y Los otros de su Casa abraca a Su grison derramando tiernas Lagrimas, y le haze fiesta diziendole Ven a Ca querido y Leal amigo de mis entrañas, Compañero y alivio de mis trabajos y miserias quando Caminavamos Juntos y muy Conformes, yo no tenía entonces otra ansiedad, Sino de nuestras dos pansas, y de tus arnezes alzando Sus orejas, Con gratitud admirable rebuzno El Grison para festejar a Su Dueño".
This plate is better drawn and engraved than plate 15 from the same set: "Don Quichotte Ch. dernier de la Seconde partie" (included in this copy too).
