Commentary | Typified composition in 18th century editions.
In the foreground, Micomicona (Dorotea) kneels before don Quixote, who tries to prevent her from doing it, while Sancho introduces her to the knight; also the barber disguised with a beard as her squire. In the background, the priest and Cardenio are "hidden". The young man on the right does not appear in Cervantes' text. Don Quixote's arms remain on a tree (reference to his previous penance). Acceptable engraving, but not in some details. |
