| Commentary | In the garden of the Duke's palace, Countess Trifaldi shows her beard to don Quixote, amazing him and Sancho.
The composition is created with gestures and looks: the Duchess orders two maidens to be quiet; the Duke laughs; Sancho is surprised; don Quixote is astonished. On the left, Trifaldín's figure holding a mace, although it should be a scimitar. Remarkable use of dotted manner/stipple; well-drawn and shaded figures. |
