Commentary | Sancho Panza, in the center of the composition, gesticulates while three servants, by Pedro Recio's order, take away the most delicious dishes.
Pedro Recio is dressed in a ridiculous manner. Suitable scene for Coypel's style: many servants (forming a semicircle), rich architecture, chandelier, curtains, clothes... Good light and shadow effects. Interesting use of dotted manner/stipple. |
Notes | 1 - Copy after Coypel's illustration (La Haye: Hondt, 1746; originally engraved for Paris: Surugue, c. 1728-30).
2 - Wrongly-placed in chapter 45:2; the scene belongs to 47:2. |
