Commentary | Don Quixote, mounted on Rocinante, observes from behind the inn wall (foreground) how Sancho is tossed in a blanket by the innkeeper, Juan Palomeque, and others (background).
Original composition; it was more used the composition created by Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657) with Sancho in the foreground and don Quixote in the background. Accurate details: bottle with Fierabrás' balsam tied to don Quixote's saddle. Good drawing and engraving. |
Notes | 1 – Copy in a reduced size after Isidro and Antonio Carnicero’s illustration for Madrid: Ibarra, 1782. |
