Commentary | Composition copied after Vanderbank's (London: Tonson, 1738).
The page of the Duchess kneels before Teresa Panza and gives her letters and presents: "una sarta de corales con extremos de oro" (50:2). Accurate details to Cervantes' text: Teresa holds one tow ball and Teresica is barefoot. Bucolic scene; drawing and engraving are quite acceptable despite some faults; notice the disproportion among the horse and the figures. |
Notes | 1 – Copy in a reduced size after Antonio Carnicero’s illustration for Madrid: Ibarra, 1780. |
