Commentary Well-known scene since Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657), whose composition has been almost copied here.
In the foreground, the Knight of the White Moon defeats don Quixote, who falls towards the viewer; remarkable figures.
From the background, Sancho arrives to help don Quixote; don Antonio and the Viceroy observe them.
Set in Barcelona beach (galleys, port...).
Drawing and engraving are very remarkable.
Notes 1 – Copy in a reduced size after Antonio Carnicero’s illustration for Madrid: Ibarra, 1780.
