Commentary | Well-known scene since Coypel (Paris: Surugue, c. 1734) and Vanderbank (London: Tonson, 1738); now, without too much novelty.
In the foreground, next to a stream, Dorotea washing her feet and "combing" her hair. From the right, the priest, the barber and Cardenio appear, surprising her. Good engraving, but drawing with some faults. |
Notes | 1 - Copy after José del Castillo's illustration for Madrid: Ibarra, 1780.
2 - The signature beneath the illustration refers to Bernando Barranco wrongly. 3 - Placed as frontispiece. |
