Commentary | Accuarate to Cervantes' text, Pedro Alonso, pointing to their village in the background, takes don Quixote back to his home; Rocinante follows them with "las astillas de las armas" (5:1). Don Quixote, riding Pedro Alonso's mule, appears melancholic.
This scene was first represented by Bouttats (Amberes: Verdussen, 1672 - 1673). Well-detailed setting with etching and burin engraving. |
Notes | Wrongly placed in chapter 4:1 f.p. 29; it should be in chapter 5:1 f.p. 39. |
