Commentary | Well-known scene since Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657); in the center, Sancho (his face is the center of the illustration) attacked by Maritornes and the muleteer; from the left, the innkeeper arrives kicking Maritornes with his leg; on the right, don Quixote gesticulating on his broken bed.
Scene of great movement, violence and racket; expressed by curved burin lines (see Maritornes' nightdress or don Quixote, Maritornes and the muleteer's hairs). Great interest in a detailed setting. |
