Commentary | Don Quixote attacks the barber, who falls from his mule, while Sancho remains on the left. Accurate to Cervantes' text, it is raining (see burin lines) and the barber wears the basin on his head.
The figure of the barber is remarkable; "vio venir aquella fantasma sobre sí, no tuvo otro remedio para poder guardarse del golpe de la lanza, si no fue el dejarse caer del asno abajo" (21:1). Rivelles uses to represent the figures from a low point of view, so they look bigger. |
