Commentary In the same illustration, there are two actions of different character:
In the foreground, a humorous situation: Sancho Panza falling from the tree (his image is ridiculous and deformed).
In the background, an heroic one: don Quixote hunting the wild boar with the Duke and Duchess.

This basic composition influenced Charles Antoine Coypel (Paris: Surugue, c. 1728-30).
