Commentary | Composition following a diagonal: from the right foreground (Sancho alarmed; he appears as a parodic figure, almost a buffoon) through the center (don Quixote attacking the sheep; see Rocinante, frightened) to the left background (the shepherds gesticulating).
This illustration remarks don Quixote's folly. Some details (don Quixote's lips, the sheep...) have not been colored with great care. |
