Commentary | Perfectly-balanced composition.
Don Quixote, with a clemency gesture, orders the defeated Knight of the Mirrors (Sansón Carrasco) to go and prostrate himself at the feet of Dulcinea. His squire, Tomé Cecial (left), takes off his fake big nose to show don Quixote who they really are, amazing Sancho. Well-detailed drawing and engraving. |
Notes | 1 - Copied after Coypel's design (Paris: Surugue, c. 1728-30).
2 – Plate 4. 3 - Wrongly-placed; it should appear before print in p. 12 ("Dance of shepherdesses during Camachos' wedding"). |
