Commentary Well-known scene since Coypel (Paris: Surugue, c. 1734) and Vanderbank (London: Tonson, 1738); now, without too much novelty.
In the foreground, next to a stream, Dorotea washing her feet and "combing" her hair.
From the right, the priest, the barber and Cardenio appear, surprising her.
Poor engraving and printing.
Notes 1 - Xylographic copy after the plate engraved by Satchwell for New York: Huntington, 1814-15.
2 - Placed as frontispiece.
