Commentary | In the foreground, don Quixote fallen on the ground and beaten by a pair of yangüeses.
Behind, Sancho is beaten by other yangüés. In the background (left), the mares. Notice don Quixote´s representation as a classical sculpture; compare with "Dying Gaul" or "Discobolo-warrior" (Capitoline Museum, Rome). Drawing and engraving are quite remarkable. |
